Ebay

You all know I love ebay, it is fun. Most of the time.
I learned something very valuable recently, though. Don't mix business and personal life. I mean that i will no longer be putting effort into Stan's business. I got it all worked out, but almost got stuck with a $75 waffle maker.
Moral: Karma will protect you every once in a while, and God more often than not-- but sometimes you get your ass plowed by your own stupid mistakes.

the boyfriend II

See July 19, 2009, The Boyfriend
I feel that I need to clarifye, that last part is not true. C was not told to get rid of A.
Turns out that B and C broke up during that whole time period. They remain very close. And now A and C are friends.

Hollywood undead

Was great, I just got back from the Newport. The band liked my shirt.
And I have confirmed my suspicions: they are just a bunch of angry white boys.

Lunch with Suhayl

As I ride this planet around the sun I realize that people come and go. Most times you don't really think that people are going to go, they just sort of fade away. And then you wake up one day and realize you have no idea where they are. This is not the case with college, where you realize that people are going to go away once they graduate.
I had lunch with Suhayl today, who I now know is leaving in a couple of months. We had a great time today, I can see myself spending more time with his ass. I invited him to join the huge group of people going to zoombeezie bay next week, and he is bringing some of hims friends, so I will get to meet them. Now... that takes the number up to like 8 people.
Anyway. He recently graduated and now is going to move to Chicago. He will be leaving his closest friends... something that I am sure none of them expected to happen.

Sent my head

I sent my head, but she hasn't painted it yet... I hope she is just busy, and not that she didn't want to paint mine. Even if that is the case, I suppose it is not my business to tell people how to do their art.

the boyfriend

let me tell you a story. it involves A,B, and C.
A has a big crush on B. For many reasons, it is a one way sort of deal. Now, A finds out that B has a boyfriend, C. He actually meets C, this is how A finds this out. Then one fateful day, A enters the building where he and B see each other regularly (about twice a week.) And who does he find waiting for B? none but C. So he sits down and starts talking to C, and has a lovely conversation, about nothing in particular. Then enters B after about half an hour of A and C's conversation. A does not see C for a long time, and eventually does not see B for a long time too. But not because he isn't trying, as A often tries to find excuses to contact B. And one of these reasons is a "wait, you're single now? what happened to C?"
After months, C contacts A. The two communicate very often, and A starts to feel like C might have some sort of feeling for A. However, A doesn't really feel like that about C, and starts to feel bad about B and not telling C about A's feelings for B. So A puts it behind him.

Now, what is the worst, most Shakespearean thing that could happen?
The worst possible scenario as follows: B told C to save him from A and this is how C got A to leave B alone...

words meant to hurt

I understand being upset, and then saying things you don't mean. But that is completely different than being sly and hurtful.
For example; "I have learned never to expect sex from you when promised it."
uhm. uncalled for. and i don't really mind the whole internet knowing it.

somethign a little less criptic

Today I went to a photoshoot.
I wish I had a 3rd light to work with, but... no dice.
The models did a good job, and I jumped in for a few photos. Although, something is bothering me a little bit-- there was a moment of unnecessary unease.
I would admit that I felt a little intimidated by the men surrounding me. Both were in good shape, and both were very nice. I am a different kind of hott... there, that is my reaction.

old men

I am a butterfly. I will tell an 60 year old man my self-confidence problems. and he will nod and say, in all seriousness (out of character for him) "They have nothing on you."

or something like that.

The wisdom of men who have gone before us is never to be discounted. I have much to learn from someone who has made it through this hectic life in one piece. I just have to pay attention.

Moral: Boys will be boys. and gay boys will be girls. And old men will be perfect council in a perfect world.

Unexpected song

Step back from your life for a moment... see anything out of place? Does your life just sort of congeal nicely? If so, you might consider yourself lucky. But there is another side. Experiences make us stronger. I know a guy who's sister had to hide a very large quantity of beer. That same day, social services was called tot eh house because he was a former ward of the state (adoptive parents are sometimes subject to this interrogation!?!?!) It was the strange teamwork as he performed his interview for the Social service official (he was the one who was adopted) while she tried to hide this beer. 24 cases. TWEENTY FOUR!!! The social services official never found out, but the parents sure did.
the point of the story is that the family grew closer as they were all about to loose unless they worked together. That rough spot was a good thing, it built character and camaraderie.

Moral: Don't try and iron out all of life's wrinkles.

because it feels so good!

another mack bash:
Unlike Mac, Windows is a sophisticated piece of software, imagine coding for thousands and thousand of hardware and each and every one of the hardware works seamlessly with Windows. Mac however has only one hardware vendor to code for, if Mac is in the same situation as Windows, Mac would have been a bloated, buggy and an unstable OS.

itunes (last graph in this series)... player for luddites. All the other benchmarks show an increase in performance (or decrease in render times). While itunes remains unchanged, actually harmed by multiple cores.

questions so rude

is there a nice way to ask someone why you are still friends? Ir it rude to ask a person to provide you with a reason for you to continue talking to them? why should we spend our efforts on people, if there is no point. Just because we have grown comfortable with them? maybe even comfortably numb?
Society judges us by the company we keep, and sometimes it is best to keep someone away, or let them drift away on there own.
There it is right there--> drift away on their own. As of this moment I will not put forward the effort. It is on their shoulders. Should I never hear from them again, then I just let it get away- float away and deflate like a flaccid balloon.

The original web article shows how one man went from Isheep to informed user. I think this is a great article, mostly because he makes a point in his last paragraph.
http://www.vectronicsappleworld.com/2006/0804.asp

The Apple web is perhaps the most dynamic sector of the Internet. Thousands of people labor day and night to feed the technological swill that we all lap up. The web has undergone dramatic changes over the years, but one thing remains the same, the iSheep march on.

iSheep are Apple zealots who can't see past whatever technological or philosophical incarnation Apple is religiously lauding at any particular moment in time. iSheep are cult-like in their devotion to their Apple religion. They wage ruthless jihad on the infidels, those who suffer the unforgivable blasphemy of not using Apple products. But the cult of Apple is just like every other cult created by man. Those blinded by ideology are in the end made to be the fool.

This website is full of "iSheepery." One only has to read the postings of years past. The primary rule of this site is that once you post it, it stays posted, so you better mean what you say when you say it. Looking back at some of the old opinion posts, I believe that some of the authors are probably now a bit embarrassed by their iSheep rantings.

That is the problem with the iSheep mentality. You don't realize you are an iSheep while you are caught up with your iSheepness. It is not until you realize how silly is your devotion, that you can actually see the world from the perspective of a rational human. Until then, you are nothing more than a ranting iSheep.

For example, in the early 1990s, the iSheep were all up in arms over the switch from the 68K Motorola processor to the PowerPC processor. The iSheep had for years been fed the convincing Apple propaganda of IBM = bad, Motorola = good. IBM was a significant partner, along with Motorola, in the creation of PowerPC technology. How could Apple shrug off its old line dogma aimed squarely at Big Blue?

Apple took another page out of George Orwell's 1984, and this time it didn't have anything to do with "Big Brother." How do you turn an enemy into a friend? Create another enemy. Nothing motivates a cult more than hate. Apple shifted its propaganda from IBM is evil to Microsoft is evil. This happened overnight and was extremely unsubtle. Suddenly, IBM became an ally in the battle against the real enemy, Microsoft, who had coupled with an even more diabolical and evil foe, Intel. Why was Microsoft evil? They make really good office software. I don't care for their operating system, but I wouldn't exactly call them evil.

iSheep bought into "Microsoft is evil" hook, line, and sinker. Here was the line fed to and repeated by the iSheep: Microsoft makes horrible software and Intel makes horrible, slow, and inefficient processors. Sure, I bought into it just like everyone else. I was an iSheep.

Apple shifted its propaganda from a battle over hardware (Apple II/ Macintosh versus IBM) to a battle over software (MacOS versus Windows). There was still the obligatory jihad against Intel or other industry standard equipment, but the main focus was with MacOS, which was unfortunate for Apple because Windows caught up with and perhaps even surpassed Classic MacOS in the late 1990s. Apple needed a spin. They needed something to bring the iSheep back into the fold, something to keep the faithful, well, faithful.

They once again moved back to the hardware angle and produced beautiful candy-colored computers. The iSheep fawned and purred, but Apple was finding it hard to hide the embarrassing fact the MacOS was about 5 years down on the high tech curve. Apple played it beautifully. They filled the iSheep with the holy word, OS 8 is wonderful and then OS 9 is the most advanced operating system in the world. The iSheep again lapped it up. They bought every word.

Huge efforts were made by the iSheep using the young Internet to spread the word to all corners of the world. MacOS is superior to Windows! MacOS is superior to Windows! Microsoft is evil! Bill Gates is the new Big Brother!

And then Apple partnered with Microsoft. Sounds familiar doesn't it. Apple realized that it needed Microsoft as a friend way more than it needed it as a propaganda tool. So Apple entered into a detente with the evil monopoly and the evil monopoly kept making its evil Microsoft Office for the Mac so that the holy Apple Corp would not go under. Bill Gates loved the coin thrown his way by the little iSheep following Apple's lead.

But for Apple to keep the iSheep religiously funneling money back into its coffers, the company still needed to maintain an enemy and as always, Intel fit the bill. Oh, how we spent hours in the forums back in the late 1990s, making fun of Intel. The Pentium is garbage, megahertz is a myth, Alta-Vec is awesome, and on and on and on. Apple really had us iSheep sputtering all their holy pronouncements with fervor and conviction. But trouble was brewing in the cult. Apple was about to make its greatest transition since the PowerPC chip replaced the 68K chip. Apple was going to kill Classic MacOS in favor of a Unix-based operating system developed by another company, OS X.

This iSheep propaganda machine was a sight to behold, let me tell you. Apple spun it with an ingenuity seldom seen in the business world. They came up with a catchy symbol: "X," and named it after large predatory felines, "Puma," "Jaguar," "Panther," "Tiger," "Leopard." Now the enemy was no longer external. The new enemy was internal, Classic MacOS. Classic was now called vile, old, primitive, and dangerously flawed. OS X would save the company where Classic was leading it to destruction.

It was a blood bath. The iSheep were eating their own. The evil Classic iSheep supporters had to be put down, removed, silenced, and shunned because OS X was going to save us from total oblivion. Finally, after a few years, the iSheep emerged stronger from the experience. Mention Classic MacOS in any forum, and you will immediately be attacked. Classic sucks, OS X is the greatest thing ever, ect., ect. I can hardly wait for the impending spectacle that will result when Apple encourages a new generation of iSheep to kill off the OS X iSheep. Perhaps they will name the next generation OS after birds like Falcon or Eagle or Condor. Now that would be a cool way to brainwash the future iSheep. It is going to be disastrous for many sites on the Internet. Sites with domain names containing "OSX" will have to change or die. So strong have they been programmed that they may think OS X is forever. Believe me, Apple II wasn't forever, neither is OS X.

So what is happening today? I think that is most obvious. Apple has once again done a radical 180 and embraced a former hated and scorned enemy. You guessed it. After spending millions upon millions pushing the PowerPC architecture and encouraging the iSheep to poke fun at everything else, they are abandoning it in favor of Intel. Furthermore, they have all but abandoned Apple proprietary standards in favor of superior industry standards. Say goodbye to ADB and AppleTalk and say hello to USB and Ethernet.

Even OS X is losing its importance. If you don't like it, you can run Windows instead. This is astounding. How many iSheep have spent countless hours defending the honor of their holy OS only now to be told that it wasn't all that important after all?

I am no longer an iSheep. I try to evaluate technology on what I need versus what it costs. In my opinion, Apple is the best computer on the market. I couldn't conceive of owning any other brand. Microsoft produces the best Office applications. iLife is for amateurs and iWeb is a joke. .Net is pretty cool and Apple doesn't have a clue about how to be an Internet services company. .Mac is a disaster. These opinions are based on reason and forethought. I hope your choices are based on reason and forethought as well. Being an iSheep is similar to being a slave. Think for yourself. Think different.

YOU can download the internet -- Today!

Let's be honest, MOST Mac AND PC users are dumb enough that you could convince them they could download the internet with enough tech jargon. It's why IT people have jobs. It's why Best Buy can get away with selling $150 Geeksquad "service" that includes such scary and complicated things as "virus removal" and "spyware check".

The best thing the technology support industry ever did for itself was sound complicated enough that people are scared to touch it. Imagine the caveman as he is fascinated and simultaneously terrified by fire, now upgrade that caveman to a businessman and upgrade the fire to firewire 800.

Rock Band

I have played both Rock Band and Guitar Hero. So , my final judgement is this: Guitar Hero III is way more fun, and has a way greater replay-ablility than Rock Band. It was nice to play drums for a while, unfortunetly, my stage fright prohibited me from singing Roxanne.

what is coming over me?

Am I becoming more intolerant of a person, am I wrong in wanting the best for myself? wanting to exercise as many rights as I can get my hands on? Wanting to tip all scales in my favor? Is that self centered? obviously it is, but what is so bad about being self centered. Literally, at least in this case, it is about putting myself in a good spot.
This is me making myself feel better

But seriously, have i become more jagged?

male abortion

Although it does not affect me, I still feel that I deserve an opinion on the subject matter. I finally found the way to describe what i have been trying to say with my previous attempts.
'When a female determines she is pregnant, she has the freedom to decide if she has the maturity level to undertake the responsibilities of motherhood, if she is financially able to support a child, if she is at a place in her career to take the time to have a child, or if she has other concerns precluding her from carrying the child to term. After weighing her options, the female may choose abortion. Once she aborts the fetus, the female's interests in and obligations to the child are terminated. In stark contrast, the unwed father has no options. His responsibilities to the child begin at conception and can only be terminated with the female's decision to abort the fetus or with the mother's decision to give the child up for adoption. Thus, he must rely on the decisions of the female to determine his future. The putative father does not have the luxury, after the fact of conception, to decide that he is not ready for fatherhood. Unlike the female, he has no escape route'.

I should have said

A guy stopped me dead in my tracks as I was walking home from work today, just outside of Hound Dogs pizza. He was wearing a black wife beater and his friend was sitting on the stoop wearing a black bandanna, but in a different way than I wear mine. Both were wearing torn loose shorts. They were hipsters/punky kinda losers. The one standing, in the wife beater, just looked at me with his mouth wide open. I asked if I knew him, and he didn't move-- at all. I just looked at him for a long moment.
I eventually just walked away. But what I should have said was, "I have loved you all my life". As that is the only thing I can think of that is shocking enough to match the expression on his face.

Moral: some people just try and get a rise out of people, or try and make others feel uncomfortable. It is best to just play right back and trap them in their game.

Nina Simone
The Best Of Nina Simone
Four Women

My skin is black, my arms are long
My hair is woolly, my back is strong
Strong enough to take the pain, inflicted again and again
What do they call me? My name is aunt Sarah
My name is aunt Sarah, aunt Sarah

My skin is yellow, my hair is long
Between two worlds I do belong
But my father was rich and white
He forced my mother late one night
And what do they call me?
My name is Saffronia, my name is Saffronia

My skin is tan, my hair fine
My hips invite you, my mouth like wine
Whose little girl am I? Anyone who has money to buy
What do they call me? My name is Sweet Thing
My name is Sweet Thing

My skin is brown, my manner is tough
I'll kill the first mother I see, my life has been rough
I'm awfully bitter these days, because my parents were slaves
What do they call me? My name is Peaches

Get it? it is feminist. Pretty awsome, isn't it?

pretty lights

I see pretty lights everywhere I go bitches wanna know how high the sycamore grows into me like I crash that killed the princess toadstool is waiting at the castle in the sky.

there. That is surrealist writing. the following were independent thoughts
1. I see pretty lights everywhere. (opening thought)
2. Everywhere I go bitches wanna know Charley Scene ---- (Hollywood Undead)
3. how high the sycamore grows if you cut it down, you'll never know (Pocahonis)
4. crash into me like I crash into you, baby (Dave Mathews Band)
5. the crash that killed the princess. Millions mourned. (excert from "The Dreamer upstairs")
6. Princess toadstool is waiting at the castle for you, Mario. (opening of Mario 64)
7. Castle in the sky (that terrible techno song)
by pressing them together where they fit, they are surrealist. It might look random, but it was very well planned out, and the dissection proves it. There... surrealist art.
Suck it.

minority cheack

As I read an interview with Andrew Bridge, the lighting designer for Phantom of the Opera and many other shows, I read a line that he states women don't do it in England. It isn't' really open to them there like it is in the states. and I wonder... can I put this in my presentation on him? Will I be labeled anti-feminist if I say that in England women aren't able to be lighting designers and I like that because it gives me a better chance of success if I ever go there?

Why is it that we feel the need to damage our own chances for success because we want it to be "fair". I don't really feel any loyalty towards a level playing field, I want the scales tipped in my favor all the time. I want to be successful, and if the bias is towards me; great. What is so terrible about that?

never mind

I just found out the worst thing I can say to a deaf guy... and it isn't about them being deaf. It is "never mind". I didn't even have to think about why it is so unfair to say, I figured it out just after i said it. It is completely taking them out of the conversation, and it is like saying, "I don't care enough to reword it". Basically, it discounts them. And in a conversation of two people... it is the end of the conversation.
I made a quick mistake. Now i know. And, even better, I understand.
I have/ had ADD. So I missed stuff sometimes too, and I was told "never mind" a few times. It sucks and makes you feel so alone, and kind of stupid. That is not a good thing. But if the person explains it you usually realize that you understand it more than you know, and it is kind of strange that you were confused initially.

moral: even if someone is completely "Hearing", you still hurt feelings by saying, "never mind."

gaming computers

people who buy gaming computers suck ass. They have no idea what is "under the hood". I was on a forum and a guy bought a gaming computer 5 months ago and is having trouble. I asked if SLI or Crossfire are active or even present on his machine. he had no idea what I meant. I told him the they are video card technologies that link multiple cards together and enhance performance. I told him that if he looks inside hie computer case he would see two or more identical video cards. He opened his case, and then just took a photo... he had no idea how to even look at the innards.
And by the way, he got ripped off... that computer is not worth 900 for just the tower.

destroyed in paper

I just saw the MFA solo projects. They were good. But I was thrown off by some of the lighting. I wrote about it in my paper for my 625 class. I destroyed the designer, not knowing who it was, expecting each soloist to have organized their specials... but then I read the program. Sorry Jarod... but the truth is out there, I was not impressed with your emotional level in lighting, your practical applications (especially your lightning effect) were very good, but as far as the emotion put forward, you came up lacking.
There, I said it. I will have no problem turning in my paper.

I met a girl who worked collections for a bank just briefly. She said the worst was when she had to tell a woman to pay the mortgage, but the woman said that her husband had cancer and son was too young. She was the only income.
But then this girl told me that she has been through a foreclosure and lived in a shelter. She is tough-- tough as nails.

liberal vs conservitive

ok, I need you to follow me on this. read it slowly if you must, but it is important.

The general upward trend of society is liberalism, it is the birth of every revolution. Conservatism is generally favored by those who have the most money and power. Now... as young people come of age, they feel the need to correct injustices of society, so they are usually pretty liberal, and then they grow more conservative as they grow older and acquire money and power; in order to protect their money and power. Now, what about the things that don't effect their money or power. Would I be correct in saying that gay allyship will likely be accepted by everyone who accepts it today, even once they grow older. As these things don't effect an individual's power... or does it?
might I ask, does the church loose power as a gay couple gets wed by the state? or does the sandwhich shop down the street loose out when a gay couple opens a gay-cafe?

Think about it.
Moral: (direct quote from above)As young people come of age, they feel the need to correct injustices of society, so they are usually pretty liberal, and then they grow more conservative as they grow older and acquire money and power; in order to protect their money and power.

I am supposed to be my own mr. right

You are most likely to meet your "Mr.Right" at your local University or College campus. Avoid guys with torn clothing, t-shirts with slogans and backwards ball caps. Instead, look for a guy who carries himself with pride, is sitting outside with his lap top but gazing around or a guy who always arrives to class early. Consider it a bonus if he is in his graduate year or is in a medical program (he'll be too busy to have another girl) or if he has his own apartment off campus and vehicle (that he pays for himself). Also consider it important to find the man who also has a job while attending college/university- this shows a level of motivation. This particular breed of man needs you to share in common goals and striking up a conversation based on mutual interests or program interests is always the way to go....Smile and let the journey begin!

It is true... At all times in life, it feels great to reach down and pluck it up.

hell yeah... almost as good as sex, but way more acceptable when company is over.
I should also add, I am deathly afraid that i will slip and fall while cleaning my ears, resulting in puncturing my brain and killing me.

Liking on Facebook

Facebook has had the ability to "Like" something for a while now. Basically, as a user, you have friends and those friends tend to post things. You can view these things and if you liked them, you can mark them with a "Like". But, I wonder why you can't "Dislike" something...

Words to live by

Did you get all that? That was at the very end of a piece of junk mail I got. It actually is kinda oddly dramatic after you read it a few times. You fall into a sort of rhythm.
Moral: Give something a chance that you normally wouldn't today. It could prove to be impressive.

Quote from Anthony

"Don't kill Kevin, he's one of the good ones."

I don't think he knows how much that meant to me. I am always concerned that I suck... Anthony made me feel ten times better when he said that.

Yes, I know

God help the outcasts
Hungry from birth
Show them the mercy they don't find on earth
God help my people
They look to you still
God help the outcasts
Or nobody will.

After life

Conrad feels that since the consciousness is dependant on the brain, when the brain dies, so does the consciousness...
I disagree... I don't know why... but i do. I have seen it. Or at least I know what it is, so therefore it must exist. Makes sense enough to me.

Consumes me

Fear consumes me. I suppose consumes is the extreme of the word. I might say that fear motivates me a great deal right now. I am in a position to show great courage... what I will do might be something different.
... 5 mins into movie ...
phew. I feel better now. so much better. No matter how bad I feel, I have life easier than many. Fear is not acceptable-- in fact it is selfish. It would be selfish of me to be afraid for myself like that. That means that -- i am not sure what it means. I suppose it might mean that I am thinking about myself first... which isn't so terrible...
What it boils down to is: Fear still exists.
Moral: if you are reading this, you don't have it bad. You are at a computer, which means there is electricity, which means you are in civilization. There are a billion people in worse spots than you.

Canon CanoScan LiDE 100 2923B002 2400 x 4800dpi 48bit USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Interface Flatbed Scanner - Retail

A review from Newegg. Fantastic.

“”
Pros: This is absolutely excellent scanner. It's primary function performs without problems. It's been used over 500 times since it's inception into my household. The best part about the scanner, though, are not how it functions but how its powered. The short answer? BY USB, BABY. The long answer? BY UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS, BABY. It's impressive to be more than capable of scanning quietly and quickly (with an excellent result--the picture quality is on par with the more expensive scanners) using nothing more than the juice from a USB port. All the software is excellent (as excellent as manufacturer software can get) which makes this a great choice for those who don't know what they're doing. The quick set buttons on the front work in harmony with the software as well. Everything included is more than easy to use.

Cons: If you're a 50-something woman with the idea that scanning her photos into her computer to upload them to Facebook so everyone can see how thin you use to be 35 years ago, this scanner is for you. It's not the most powerful scanner, can't scan documents at a rate of 100 pages per minute, and can't keep your hot chocolate from becoming chocolate milk (which is terribly disgusting by the way--hot cocoa mix was NEVER intended to be used for chocolate milk and anyone who says otherwise is un-American) but all of that is NO reason whatsoever to hate on this scanner. It's by far the best one I've ever owned, having owned quite a few at 5 years intervals so my mother can relinquish old memories.

Other Thoughts: I bought this scanner for my mother so she can scan and upload her old pictures from the Paleolithic era to her very modern and so passe Facebook. She's happy, so it's all good. The only stipulation was to not scan any baby pictures of me or else I'd press her face on the glass while it was scanning, in the hopes that a cool picture would emerge.

girls will be girls.

Two women friends had gone for a girl's night out; both were very faithful and loving wives. However, they had gotten over-enthusiastic on the Bacardi Breezers.

Incredibly drunk & walking home, they needed to pee, so they stopped in the cemetery.

One of them had nothing to wipe with so she thought she would take off her panties and use them.

Her friend, however, was wearing a rather expensive pair of panties and did not want to ruin them, but was lucky enough to squat down next to a grave that had a wreath with ribbon on it, so she proceeded to wipe with that.

After the girls did their business, they proceeded to go home.

The next day, one woman's husband was concerned that his normally sweet and innocent wife was still in bed hung over, so he phoned the other husband and said,

'These damn girls' night out have got to stop. I'm starting to suspect the worst.

My wife came home with no panties.'

'You think that's bad' said the other husband, 'Mine is lying in bed with a card stuck in her ass that says: 'From all of us at the Fire Station. We'll never forget you.'

the camel

Two older ladies meet every week in the park for a smoke and a chat. One week it showered, the first lady couldn't light her cigarette, the second slipped her cig into a condom, lit up and puffed away as usual. The first was well impressed and decided that was the way to go.

Early next week the first lady went to the pharmacy looking for a pack. Searching for a while she couldn't find the damned things anywhere. A young, new, employee of the pharmacy eager to help asked if there was anything he could help her find.

"I'm looking for a box of condoms" the lady said.

"Any particular brand" the assistant asked

"Oh, I don't care, just so long as it'll fit a camel".

sick and tired

I have met someone who "has had it up to here with suicidal people"
It has made me think, life is about living. Although death is part of it, life is meant to be lived. To truly "live" it is important to surround yourself with people who are "brave" and those who choose life.
WE both reflected on our past with suicidal people. Of course divulging no names. To an outsider, even to some of you readers, this sounds cocky. But it is my opinion that I may choose whom I surround myself with. Everyone should be able to choose this.

Nicolas. Age 34.

cute.

Dear Employees,

Due to the current financial situation caused by the slowdown of economy, Management has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 40 years of age and above on early retirement. This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).

Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to management to be eligible for the SHAFT scheme (Special Help After Forced Termination). Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (Scheme Covering Retired Early Workers). A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as Management deems appropriate.

Persons who have been RAPED can only get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependants & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).

Obviously persons who have AIDS or HERPES will not be SHAFTED or SCREWED any further by Management.

Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. Management has always prided itself on the amount of SHIT it gives employees. Should you feel that you do not receive enough SHIT, please bring to the attention of your Supervisor. They have been trained to give you all the SHIT you can handle.

Sincerely,

The Management

How I know

I know God is real. This sounds crazy, but he sent a me a dream last night. I was signing a contract with Satan (not some low level devil, but Satan himself) and my soul was shaking, trying to escape. I can't remember if I actually signed it or not. My soul was shaking so violently, I could feel my physical body constraining my soul within. But I vividly remember looking down and seeing me urinate all over myself (I was actually naked in this dream, at least for this part I know I was naked). I woke violently, it felt so real that I had to check if I had actually pissed myself. Luckily I had not.
I know God is real because I sold Him out yesterday, and this was his response. A warning.
Call me crazy, but whatever. I don't care what you think.

The contract nightmare

I know what it is to be offered a contract from Satan. You piss yourself as you read it, you feel yourself draining out of your body. Your soul shakes within your flesh. Then everything becomes hazy.

Ella

May you sail fair
To the far fields of fortune
With dimonds and pearls
At your head and your feet
And may you need never
To banish misfortune
May you find kindness
In all that you meet

May there always be angels
To watch over you
To guard you each step of the way
To guard you and keep you
Safe from all harm

May you bring love
And may you bring happiness
Be loved in return
To the end of your days

Changes

As humans we crave new stimulus. We are always looking for new ways to have fun, new things to eat, new people to meet. In fact, if you aren't looking, society slaps you with some sort of stigma/mental disease diagnosis. If you too actively seek these out, then you are antsy. A perfect balance is required to be "normal".
I am making some changes in my life, and I have one person to thank. I finally stopped listening to everyone else. And now I am pursuing happier things. I don't care if people look at me while I walk down the street or if they ignore me. I don't care if people think I am cold hearted or a big push over. Least of all do I care if anyone feels the need to validate my choices.
I am not saying that i want to be some sort of anti-conformist. I hate hipsters. I am saying that I will do what I think is best. This means I need to make some changes, since a lot of my life is about other people.
I'm 22. There is no need for me to live for anyone but myself. Nobody.

Moral: Live for yourself, because nobody else can make you as happy as you can make yourself.

So...

What's next?
I had a great time tonight. I hope that the rest of the visit goes well.

Moral: life goes on, even if you want it to stop. If you could take a single moment and repeat it, what would you choose? Choose wisely.

Requiem for a friend

I appreciated all you did for me, in your taking care of me when I was down. And I loved you for holding me up when enemies greatly outnumbered me, standing beside me through them all. I know that you cared for me greatly, matched only by the way I cared for you. Until one terrible day when you scared me into acting out of fear. Acting out of love, perhaps, love: absolutely; to try and keep you. For months leading up to that day, I was afraid I was losing you. Losing you in a way that you lost me several times, and waited for me to come back to you. I always came back to you. Now that I have lost you, I see it was not how I thought it would happen. But it was me who caused it. I still act out of love, but you’re so deeply hurt that you cannot accept it. I cannot blame you any longer. We cannot see each other at all. Our backs both turned on each other, even if one of us looks over our shoulder, the other is still turned away. I finally lay it down, it is over. Peace in all that comes your way.

Beauty

I saw somethign today: two beautiful people, then one person with down syndrome. One right after the other. It really made me think. I am lucky... So lucky.

Np brainer update

Cancel that, I was foolish for choosing someone who is like her. i should have expected her to go all bipolar on me.

but, wise words from Becca, (a mutual friend)
"Nothing you love is lost... not really. Things, people-- they always go away, sooner or later. You can't hold them, any more than you can hold moonlight. But if they've touched you, if they're inside you, then they're still yours. The only things you ever really have are the ones you hold inside your heart"

no brainer

a simple choice, because she means more to me than him.

'They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English.

I can't even talk the way these people talk:

Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be... I'm like....

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.

And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth
In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids.

$500 sneakers for what?

And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit..

Where were you when he was 2?

Where were you when he was 12?

Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol?

And where is the father? Or who is his father?

People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from??

We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa .....

I say this all of the time. It would be like white people saying they are European-American. That is totally stupid.

I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany , Scotland , England ,Ireland , or the Netherlands . The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards toAfrica . So stop, already! ! !

With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap . And all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players who cannot read.

We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We, as black folks have to do a better job.

Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.

We have to start holding each other to a higher standard.

We cannot blame the white people any longer.'
Dr. William Henry 'Bill' Cosby, Jr., Ed.D.

WELL SAID, BILL
It's NOT about color...
It's about behavior!!!

Familiar

Anyone familiar with the idea that distance makes the heart grow fonder? I dare say that extends to people who are not separated, but have not met. The beautiful thing about being thousands of miles away is that people only see what you show them. The man who peers through his computer screen in New York at a man/woman in San Francisco shows only a small part of himself.
I am getting at something here. What I am saying is that I am nearly inventing a friend for myself in someone I barely know. I will refer to him as Robert Dumare... uhm. yeah. I am subtle...
Point is, I have very little to go off of. Mostly Facebook messages and texting. All text based things. Thus allowing a very limited portion of his personality to come through. I am sure he is as nice as he seems-- but I fear that I am building up to an extreme disappointment. This is not to discount long distance relationships... mealy explain my fear about meeting Roy-- I mean Ralph, err-- what the hell was that fake name?
Moral: you can imagine someone is anything you want when they are more than a thousand miles away.

Lyrics vs. Poetry

I understand that many lyrics are poetry. You can even ask where to draw the line between lyrics and poetry. I just heard some really shitty music. The lyrics are poetic... I guess. but. the music is terrible.
The Thermals, a Pillar of Salt.
I don't usually complain about music, but the singer has a terrible voice. There is nothing musical about it. He should stick to reading his poetry, rather than singing it.
Moral: just because the lyrics are good doesn't mean the music is worth shit. And just because the lyrics suck, the music might still be a great merit.

Lucid Dreams

I officially had my first lucid dream. It came from the realization that I don't live in the dorms, but an apartment. I had a dream last night where I was wandering around looking for my dorm room, but then i remembered I have an apartment. I knew it was a dream, so I tried to do a sideways flip, it worked, so I flew (yes, flying) into the hallway and then everything became a musical. It was really fun.
But a bitter sweet sort of thing, as the surprise of my dreams melted away and I completely controlled them. like putting on god-mode in a video game, it is fun for a while but then gets bland.
Moral: it is no fun being in complete control, so don't aspire for world domination.

Mac vs. PC

Ever met and evangelical Mac user? They Are as bad as the republican rights... or for that matter, the extremist PC user is as bad as the far lefts... Which are you?
Just like the political system, most people are in the middle of the bell curve, however we all have our preferences. I know where I am. And i know where a lot of my friends are. It is just funny that I don't think anyone has really put these two things together.

Rack mounting

Who knows what a server rack is?
For those who don't, a server rack is a verticle mounting system that computer people use to stack a bunch of technology. They are all a standard size, 19 inches wide. The are exactly what every tech geek wants.
But the problem is that they are expensive. So, many geeks have built their own for far less money. I found myself looking online for plans to make one...
then it hit me...
I don't need one.

Moral of the story: next time you want something, stop and ask yourself if you really need it. It might save you some serious dough.

on lights

If you read the post below this one, about my dream, you will see that my subconscious knows I am going places. Today, I proved it to myself. I was offered ANOTHER light design job at OSU. This time the playwright asked me. There was no professors involved, no bullshit. He wanted me. I suppose it is a bit different than the director asking me, but still a good thing. I need to speak with the director, and then i will get the concept... and be on my way. Yeah! I still worry, about my professional ability. I don't seem to know as much as some, however that is why I'm a student; to learn.
It is actually pretty funny. I know how to take orders from someone who knows a lot more than me... that is a GREAT skill. (this sentence replaced a long story...)
MORAL: Know your limits,a dn don't feel stupid for asking for help or clarification. If you do it wrong, you will look a lot dumber to the person who could have told you how to do it.

post number 500

This is the 500th post on this blog. I never really thought about wheatear or not I would make it to 500. I am not surprised.

now as to the actual reason for my post. I had a dream this morning... a flight dream; the good kind. Apparently I am confident in where I am going, but why am I so afraid when I am awake about my future? It just seems that my conscious and subconscious are in conflict.

Those we surround ourselves with

I am cutting someone out of my life today. People who add nothing to my life except trouble and exhaustion are not worth keeping around. I find that I am never happy around these people.

Moral: don't keep someone around just because they are familiar. If they are a neutral force, than that is fine, but if they actually detract from your happiness; drop them like a bad habit... that is what they are: a bad habit.

I know I will dream tonight

I know what I will dream of tonight, and I hope it be brief, for it will not be pretty.

Today I was 100 feet above concrete flooring, I took a leap of faith and fell, I spiraled down, and then I hit rock bottom. And then I melted apart and seeped into the cracks of the world. dripping amongst the sentiment until reaching the earth's core where i am alone and I can spin and fold upon myself as shapeless.

It's gonna be a rough night.

treads

Years from now I will look this up and see... nothing.
And I can only hope... for nothing.. and for something to become nothing. and I fear that nothing will become something. and all that. NOTHING.

But for now, I hope for wind and nothingness.
Wind to just blow it all over, after all conflict is not so fun.

Reflect on love lost

I didn't' love him, but it is the best title for the universal occurrence.
There was a guy who was wonderful, and he was very much into me. I thought he was gorgeous. He liked opera, he was big and beefy, he has a above average -erm... thing--, he thought I was perfect. He was smart, and kind, and polite.
But I couldn't understand a goddam word the boy said...
He had the heaviest accent I ever tried to decipher.
He now speaks perfectly clear English over 3 years later. but he is gone. I saw a show that made me reflect one this tonight.

More to come, I must go for now.

I am terrified

I have been having a conversation with a high school student who I met while i was doing the lights for West Side Story in New Albany. Her name has been removed to ensure her privacy.

Kevin Duchon
February 11 at 9:57am

I am glad that everyone was happy with the lights. I won't be doing the lights for the soring unfortunately, as I have 2 other production I will be working on, but I would love to have the opportunity to do it all again.
I can't tell from the tiny little picture (for some reason I can't access your profile, even though we are friends) but weren't you up on the sound board?

L##### N#####
February 11 at 4:48pm

that's too bad, but it's cool that you are working on some other shows. haha, well from this message it still says that we aren't friends. and i was in the show. i didn't really have a part...it's kinda hard to explain. anyways, i will just add you again and maybe it will actually work this time!

Kevin Duchon
February 11 at 8:55pm

hmm... hard to explain? how so?

L##### N#####
February 11 at 9:17pm

well, it probably sounds kinda stupid. but, they put up the cast list and there were the 'shark girls' and we all had names so we kinda thought that we might have some lines or maybe a small part in a song or something, but it turned out that most of us were just in the background in america and just danced in the big dance number. i guess im just not sure if i actually consider it a part. i know we were needed for the dance numbers, but i think a lot of us were just expecting a little bit more than we actually got. haha, sorry that was so long.
did you ever do theatre stuff in high school??

Kevin Duchon
February 11 at 9:58pm

I did do theatre in high school. I have a similar story...
I auditioned for Les Miserables. And when I went in for the singing number, I actually got the music director to say under his breath, "wow". I did a countertenor rendition of Scarborough Fair.
I got the part off Constable someone or another. I thought that it must have been a decent sized part, because the musical director was impressed. Turned out that I sang less than three lines (I sang two and a half, because I get cut off by the other constable).

I was rather upset. But I got through it. Turns out that acting was not my true calling int he theatre. My advice, stick it through. The best part about high school acting is not the onstage part; it is the back stage stuff. Hanging with all your friends, and having a great time. I feel compelled to tell you that the people who get the big roles in high school are doomed to normality in college. So, all the bitchy people that think they are the shit are in for a wake up call.

L##### N#####
February 12 at 3:06pm

i'm glad that someone actually has experienced something similar to what i did. none of my friends are really into to theatre and the ones that are don't really care to much about it or just complain all the time about how much work they actually have to put into it. so, most of my friends who are in theatre either get a bigger part or just get a small part and don't really care. i guess i just got a little more upset with it was because last year i was in the ensemble but i actually had some singing parts that i could be recognized by.
thanks for the advice! it actually makes sense, haha. lately, i've just been second guessing if i actually want to do it since i haven't had too much success in this stuff so far. but. it's just that i love it so much and it's so frustrating not to be reaching the goals that i wnat to reach...if that makes any sense. and i totally agree with you about the people who think they are the shit. haha, it's just wierd that they really have no idea that that's gonna happen (:

Kevin Duchon
February 12 at 3:17pm

well, the thing about college is that what you are responsible for your success. If you are great, you will go far. I imagine that you are not planning on a Theatre major, but it is a universal policy. Steve Martin had some advice:
"Be so good they can't ignore you"
That applies to more than just theatre.

L##### N#####

yeah. as of right now i'm not completely sure what i want to major in. i guess i have time to figure it out, but i might be interested in becoming like a teacher for music or something along those lines. but, i would love to be able to major in theatre, i'm just not sure if it's realistic for me. there are just so many different things to major in that i'm beginning to find that it's hard for me to actually narrow it down to something that i know i will enjoy and excel in.

Kevin Duchon

Remember with teaching that you will have to go to grad school. I have no opinion for others on grad school, just be aware. And as far as your major, realize that by the end of it, you are going to be so sick of it and that you will likely end up in a field that is kinda related but is so different than you expected.
And there is always the possibility of a dual major (so much work) or a minor or two (much less work and you will get the basics of the field). But remember that as far as a minor is concerned, you are doing it all for yourself, because in the real work, employers don't give a dam what you minor in. I haven't even started to look for a job, but I have heard this. Truth be told; I am terrified.

Define love

I was recently invited to join a group on facebook called "I bet I can find 1,000,000 people who believe in gay rights". The picture to the left is the facebook photo to represent the group. Now, I could be wrong... but shouldn't it be all about not defining love? Aren't we supposed to let love flourish into whatever it comes to be? As Siddhartha Gautama has said, Define me and Limit me.

realities

In my previous post (see below) discussed the decision between having all of a moment for a brief time or having a small section of the moment forever. But what lead into that was the bat outside my apartment.

I took a look on my way out the door... deflated metallic balloon caught on a power line.

And so I now discuss reality: it happens. Every once in a while when you think you have the most amazing something or another going on... it happens to deflate before your eyes.
But not everytime: sometimes there is real beauty.

memories

I saw something pretty cool this morning, I haven't even left my apartment yet. Outside my window there is a large bat hanging from the power lines, still alive, mind you. I can easily get my camera and take a picture of it ion my way to class. But I am not going to. I know that a picture of it will not turn out well. It would be a waste.
There is a quote that has existed to me since the 90s. "Would you choose to have a piece of something forever, or the whole thing for just a moment?" It was from Touched by an Angel. That was a good program...
Anyway. It mostly speaks of taking photos. You can kill the magic of the moment by getting the camera and snapping the photo, but you can also preserve it forever...
The moral of the story is that sometimes the memories of something are better than any proof you could create. People might not believe me that this bat is huge... but I know the truth. And that is all that matters in this case, since it isn't hurting anything.

List of sub-real movies

I feel that it is easiest to call these sub-real, becasue they are not all surrealism. But most people don't know the difference. So here goes:

Cell, The
Dark Crystal, The
Destino (Part of the Fantasia Movie)
Fall, The
Fountain, The
Hellboy 2
Topo, El

The Fountain and The Fall

Both are beautiful movies, the Fall is surrealism, the Fountain is formism. The bending that goes on in both is very similar. However there is one key difference. There are plenty of drugs in the fountain...

Binary

what idiot made it start from the back? you read binary right to left... that is retarded.

Happiness

I think that the trick to being happy is to make others happy.

Send you mother a text message saying, “Just wanted to say I love you”. It will make her day.
Make sure that you are actually friends with your coworkers: that means doing something with them outside of work. It will strengthen your relationship and you will feel happier at work.
If you listen to your ipod while you walk across campus, hum along. If you are alone, lip-sync the words. You might look silly, but who cares? Music makes people happy, unless they are sad, so listen o happy music, and hum along. If you feel like singing, do it quietly. If someone insults your music choices, they are a jerk who is just unhappy.
Buy a T-shirt with a silly statement on it. It will make you smile and make people that read it smile. Win-Win situation.
Take public transportation at least once this winter. It will show you reality. Plus, you can get on for free because of your BuckID.
Eat more proteins and less carbs.
Get one type of cosmetic treatment done. Like getting your eyebrows waxed, or getting a new hairstyle, or your teeth whitened. These things will make you feel more attractive. That is a good feeling.
Bake a cake and give it to someone. Just give it to a friend. Don’t eat any of it. If someone thinks you are really strange for giving them a cake, then you gave it to the wrong person.
Commit a random act of kindness. This isn’t a big thing, but it I s more than holding open the door.
Watch a comedy, not a drama. And avoid the Lifetime channel at all costs.
Make sure you have family photos on your phone.
Create something artistic. This will impress yourself, and you actually have something to hold and touch: it is real.
Send someone a letter in the mail… and sign your name in pen.
Wear your favorite outfit out someplace.
Buy a flower and give it to a girl who you are not sexually interested in, likely it will make your friendship better. And for $1.25 you have made her so much happier than you can imagine.
You have a nice place: host a dinner party. Even if it isn’t a “dinner” party it still gives you the chance ot host and you won’t be pressured to drink because of the context of the party.
Learn a party trick, like palm reading or card tricks. These are nice little skills and you would be surprised at how great it makes you feel to have people watching you like that.
Next time someone is moving or painting a room, offer to help them.
Cuteoverload.com or icanhazcheezburger.com (these websites were suggested by another person)
Jog, it gets you out of the house and exercising. Plus you get to see shit rather than being on a treadmill.
Try a new hobby that creates something. Even if it comes out like shit, at least you tried. I build kites, some people reupholster furniture.
Keep busy, you will feel a sense of accomplishment and boredom won’t get you depressed.
Buy a new pair of socks, and make them a little weird. Something like lime green or light blue. Show them to someone, you’ll get some good reactions. Anyone who insults you for wearing colored socks is a jerk and just is unhappy about their own lives.
Pay attention to details. This helps you strive for a higher quality, and makes you feel better about things as they will be improving in front of your eyes.
Look around your apartment, notice if you have stuff. Or if your stuff has a story behind it, or if you even like the things you have. I lived with a tan candle on my coffee table for 5 months that I didn’t like. It didn’t even match the rest of the stuff on the table. Replace these things with stuff that reflects who you are or things that have back-story.
Wear sexy underwear. This makes you feel more confident. Don’t show it off, do it for yourself. Don’t be a tool by letting the waistband show.
Do something a little bit dangerous, you will feel more alive.

These are my suggestions, I hope you try some of them.
